1. Greetings

   When you meet somebody, you greet them. English has a friendly way and a polite way, and you choose one according to the person in front of you.

   • Saying hello
   • Asking about people
   • Saying goodbye

2. Personal pronouns

   A personal pronoun takes the place of a noun, so that we do not repeat the same word again and again.

   • The seven subject pronouns
   • He, she or it
   • We, you, they

3. The verb to be

   to be is the first verb you need: it gives the name, the age, the job and the place of somebody or something.

   • The three forms
